Noad’s skilful rendition of the Royal Arms showcases a shield divided into quarters, each representing England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. The shield is supported by a lion and a unicorn, symbols of courage and purity, while a crown, the ultimate symbol of monarchy, sits above it. Adorning the shield is a ribbon featuring the text “Dieu et mon droit” (God and my right) and “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (Shame on him who thinks evil of it), which are the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter.
