Introduction

Tavex is proud to offer the 1 gram Argor-Heraeus Lunar Horse 2026 gold bar. This small, finely made bar marks the Year of the Horse. The Horse is the seventh of the twelve animals in the Chinese lunar calendar. The bar brings together the charm of the lunar series and the trusted quality of Argor-Heraeus, one of the world's leading gold refiners. It is a piece you can hold, gift, or keep as part of a wider gold investment.

Part of the Argor-Heraeus lunar series

Argor-Heraeus releases a new lunar bar every year. Each year honours a different zodiac animal from the Chinese calendar. Tradition says that each animal passes its main traits to the people born in its year.

People born in the Year of the Horse - in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, and every twelfth year before that - are seen as independent, charming, and bold. They are full of energy and passion. Many have a natural gift for inspiring the people around them. This makes the bar a thoughtful gift as well as a sound buy.

Crafted by Argor-Heraeus

Argor-Heraeus mints this bar from 99.99% pure gold. The refiner is based in Switzerland and is known across the world for its high standards. Its bars carry LBMA Good Delivery status, the benchmark set by the London Bullion Market. This standard tells buyers that the gold meets strict rules on purity and weight. When you buy gold bars from a name like this, you can trust exactly what you hold.

Minted bars and cast bars

This is a minted bar. Minted gold bars are cut from a rolled gold sheet and then stamped with a clean, detailed design. They look sharp and polished, which suits small sizes and collectors.

Larger formats, such as 1kg gold bars, are usually cast gold bars. A cast bar is made by pouring molten gold into a mould. Cast bars cost a little less to produce, so they often carry a lower premium per gram. Both minted and cast gold bullion bars take their price from the global gold price, which is quoted in troy ounces. One troy ounce is about 31.1 grams, so this 1 gram bar is an easy, low-cost way to own pure gold.

A simple way to invest in gold

Gold has held its value for thousands of years. Many people invest in gold to protect their savings over the long term. Central banks also hold large gold reserves, which shows how much trust the metal still earns today. Gold often holds steady when other assets fall, so investors use it to balance their portfolios.

Small gold bars offer an easy way to start. You do not need a large budget to buy your first piece. In the UK, investment gold is VAT free, so you pay no extra tax on the metal itself. That makes gold investment more affordable than many people expect. If you prefer round formats, gold coins work in much the same way, but a 1 gram bar keeps things simple and compact.

What you receive

Each bar comes sealed in protective packaging. Inside, you will find a numbered certificate of authenticity. This certificate confirms the origin and purity of the gold. The serial numbers link each bar to its own record, so you always know exactly what you own. Keep the packaging sealed and the certificate safe, as both help protect the bar's value when you come to sell.

Tavex ships every order fully insured. Your gold is covered from the moment it leaves us until it reaches your door. You can also follow live gold price charts on our website before you buy, so you can pick the right moment for you.

Mint

Minted  bars  refer  to  the  manufacturing  process  that  is  applied  to  create  them.  The  process begins  by  heating  gold  material  in  a furnace  until it  turns  to  a  molten  slurry.  During  the heating process, all unwanted impurities in the slurry are removed until only molten gold of high purity is left, most often at around 99.99%. The molten gold is then poured into moulds, usually in the shape of large bars, where it cools and solidifies. The solid gold is then inserted into  a  mill  that  rolls  the  gold  into  panels  with  a uniform  dimension.  Afterwards, the  gold panels are inserted into a blanking press that punches blanks out of the gold panels. The next step  involves  the  weighing  of  each gold  blank  to  ensure  that  it  is  neither  underweight  nor overweight and those that pass this test are then polished for them to obtain a shiny surface. The  last stage  involves the  minting  process where the  gold  blank  is  inserted into a  minting press  that  presses  its  die with  huge  force  to transfer  the  design  from  the  die  onto  the  gold blank. The result is a  minted bar. The newly  minted gold bar is then inspected before being sealed in a transparent tamper-proof protective package.
